Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains how the British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry (“BAIRD”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data when you use baird.uk.com, request a place on a course, register for an event or contact us. We handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
BAIRD is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

The data we collect
- Course booking requests: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country and the course you are interested in.
- Your BAIRD account: your name and email address, and any profile details you choose to add, such as your specialty, clinic and photo. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google; we do not store passwords for member accounts.
- Event registrations: the details you give when you register for a BAIRD congress or event, your registration status and payment status, your QR pass, and check-in records on the day.
- Certificates: the name on your certificate, the programme, dates, CPD hours and certificate number.
- Messages and requests: what you send us through the contact form, the certificate request form or by email.
- Course alerts: your email address, if you ask us to email you about new courses.
- Community and event app: posts, questions, ratings and anything else you choose to share there.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and how you use the website. Cookies that are not essential are only used with your consent (see “Cookies” below).
How we use your data
- To handle your booking request and pass it to the course organiser so they can contact you about your place (legal basis: steps taken at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interests).
- To run your account, your event registration, your QR pass and the event app (legal basis: contract).
- To issue and verify certificates. Anyone with a certificate number can confirm the award, the programme and the CPD hours; the public result never shows your contact details (legal basis: legitimate interests).
- To reply to your messages and requests (legal basis: legitimate interests).
- To send course alerts, only if you have asked for them. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in each email (legal basis: consent).
- To understand how the website is used and to show relevant BAIRD adverts on other platforms, only if you accept cookies (legal basis: consent).
- To keep the website secure and prevent spam and abuse (legal basis: legitimate interests).
Who we share your data with
- Course organisers and partners: many BAIRD courses are delivered with a local partner. When you request a place, we share your booking details with the organiser of that course.
- Service providers that run the website for us: website hosting; Cloudflare (website delivery and spam protection); Brevo (sending emails); Google (sign-in with Google and website analytics); and Meta (advertising measurement, only with your consent). They process data on our instructions.
- Sponsors: we only share your details with an event sponsor if you choose to, for example by asking a sponsor to contact you in the event app.
- Authorities: where the law requires us to.
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep your data
- Certificate records are kept permanently, so that certificates can always be verified.
- Booking requests, event registrations and messages are kept as part of our course and event records.
- Your account stays active until you ask us to delete it. If you delete your account, we keep only what we need for certificate records and legal obligations.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep the website working, for example keeping you signed in, and are always on. Analytics and advertising cookies, including the Meta Pixel, are only used after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies for baird.uk.com, which shows the banner again. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use your data;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
You can download or delete your data from your BAIRD account, or email us at [email protected]. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
Our courses and website are for dental professionals and students. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
